Join Coaches Corner host, Mike Murray as he interviews Olympian and Head Coach of the Pine Crest School, Mariusz Podkoscielny, for a discussion on why the philosophy of the “teacher-coach” plays an incredibly impactful role on the lives of your athletes. Discover strategies and philosophical principals that have helped guide Pine Crest to sustained success over the past 2-decades, including this season; where Mariusz’s daughter Julia won 2 titles (1:59-200 IM & 53-100 Backstroke)! Mariusz will talk about the significance of our sport in his life and why he feels passionate about teaching athletes to strive to reach their fullest potential.

Mike & Mariusz also discuss coaching your own children, the significance of being a great teammate, and building meaningful relationships with staff, alumni and parents.

Coach Podkoscielny was a 2-time Olympian for Poland and finished 5th in both the 1500- and 400-meter freestyle at the 1988 Olympic Games. In the prelims for the 400 free he set the Olympic Record. He enjoyed success at the collegiate level as well, winning the 1650 at NCAAs as a freshman at the University of Arizona, and coming within 22 one hundredths of the NCAA record. Today he is the Aquatics Director of Pine Crest Swimming, and National Coach at the Pine Crest Ft. Lauderdale campus.
